North field walk

Out for a wee stroll this afternoon with my Mum and Mint the dog. It's still bloomin freezing and we were accosted by several snow showers chased in by a stiff north-easterly.

Although quite a subtle difference, I really like how the horizon in this image tells a story about the different land uses in the area.

On the right, you can perhaps just about make out the more ornamental planting that delineates the eastern perimter of Baldersby Park, the circa 1700 mansion that was home to George Hudson (aka 'The Railway King') for a while.

On the left are sycamores, oaks and ashes, a remnant of something much older that in more recent years has been managed as shelter belt and for the rearing of game birds I think.
