A Simple Solution
We bought this illuminated china display cabinet from a local charity shop a few years ago and were delighted with it. However, there was a small problem. The spotlight in the roof of the interior is very bright and can be a little dazzling for anyone sitting in the opposite sofa as it shines through the glass doors. We don't tend to use this sofa much, hence the reason we've only just got around to sorting it out. We thought of crafting some kind of lampshade but as the bulb is partly inset that was difficult, not to mention a potential fire hazard. M came up with the brilliant idea of some curtains. I set to and sewed a pair of very small curtains, 15" wide and 4" deep, added a trim and hey presto...problem solved.
I like the fabric so much, I've just bought some more to make a decorative cloth for our rather scruffy coffee table (which also came from the same charity shop).
I think I'm catching the sewing bug!
