Calennick

Wednesday 27th March 2013

We decided we needed to make our weekly fitness walks a bit more challenging and incorporate a few hills to get the heart rate going. So this morning we set off on a different direction and walked through Calenick up a long steep hill to a village called Playing Place. The sun was shining and our heart rate did indeed get going.

The clock tower belonged to a tin smelting works which operated throughout 18th and 19th centuries. The tin ore was brought from the local mines and the finished ingots of tin were shipped from Truro.
