Through the Langdales
Monday 11th October 2021
After a late night and early morning dash I managed to get away mid-morning to travel to the Lakes. I met with SueT123 to collect her from the caravan and then we had a day out.
We weren't quite sure where we wanted to go and had a couple of ideas. On the way we passed Yew Tree Tarn, the reflections were superb and there was a space in the lay-by so, having turned around, we went back to claim it. We had a nice walk all around the tarn, which isn't very big.
As time had moved on and we were ready for lunch, we had a change of plan and relocated to Blea Tarn, where we were able to have our picnic with a lovely view of the Langdales in the sun. We took some photos but again, time was moving on so we decided to start our journey further North. It is a lovely drive up that road and then back down into the valley beyond which looked beautifully lit. We couldn't stop at the top but managed to part way down for this view (two photo stitched panorama). Unfortunately the clouds had covered the sun a bit and the lighting wasn't quite as good. We waited for ages for a gap in the clouds but they were building up.
After a lovely journey we arrived at LPH ... just one year late! We were supposed to be here at this time last year but our area was thrown into Tier 3, as the tiers were introduced just before our holiday, and we weren't allowed to travel. Still, better late than never (although we would have come again anyway.) It was lovely to discover that we were meeting up with some old friends from LPH, as well as meeting some new.
We had a lovely meal in the local pub before our first photo session in the evening. So looking forward to this week.
