Lady`s Tower, Elie Ness, Ruby Bay, Elie

Lady`s Tower sits just off the Coastal Path.  Just behind it to the right is Berwick Law, at North Berwick.  To the left of the photo is The Bass Rock, which is a volcanic plug.  It`s now home to one of the largest Gannet colonies in the country.

We used to go around the island on the boat and throw mackeral scraps in the air for the gannets.  We would be almost mobbed by the birds.  If the fish fell in the water the gannets would dive out of the sky like arrows into the sea beside us, barely disturbing the surface.  They are beautiful, powerful, yet graceful birds.

We walked around here today for our main walk.  It was chilly with not too much wind, and dry.  Thank goodness.
