Nature Diary... Beautiful Goldfinches

From mid-morning until mid-afternoon these two beautiful, tiny Goldfinches fed on and on like I’ve never seen before. I can only assume they were extremely hungry. Occasionally a Sparrow popped in for a quick snack but it didn’t frighten these two tiny birds away. They just waited a few feet nearby in plain sight and went straight back to the feeder as soon as the Sparrows had gone. It looked as though it was a parent and a juvenile. I hope they feel safe enough to return again.
