Nikon SLR vs the smartphone

I have captured some of my best people shots by sliding myself along side another photographer who has just set up a family or friend group for a photo. It happened again tonight - a mother had just had her kids facepainted, and was using her smartphone to capture the looks. They were already set up, looking at their mom, so all I had to do was join the scene and squeeze my shutter. One picture was underexposed and washed out, but this one turned out pretty good. I will email them a copy.
