In the Blue
Best moment of today: Spotting this flock of migrating cranes while on my way to the hospital (the second time).
Thank you all for wishing me some respite this weekend. But it wasn’t to be.
At half past ten (just after I had gone to bed) last night, the hospital called. My mother was so confused and agitated, she had had another fall. If I could come and stay with her over night to make sure it wouldn’t happen again.
So I got up again, drove to the hospital, accompanied my mother to another CT scan (she had fallen on her head, and they needed to make sure she was okay), and took the second bed in her hospital room.
She didn’t want to sleep, she didn’t know where she was, and why, she just wanted to go home. It took me until two in the morning to calm her down. Even then I hardly got any sleep, because she talked and called out in her sleep, and frequently needed to go to the toilet but couldn’t remember where it was.
After I got home this morning at half past seven, I slept for an hour, then drove to her house to feed Lisa (her cat), did the laundry, went shopping, and set up my laptop so I can try to work at her house next week.
But if I have to spend another night or two at the hospital, I doubt if I will be able to work (or function) at all.
