Kidmageddon
My Dear Princess and Dear Friends,
Well, I am exhausted.
I had told Loulou and Tiger that I had a whole bunch of kids coming around today. "Hope you enjoy Kidmageddon!" Loulou texted me, cheekily, this morning.
How this came about was that I had invited Ellie, Corrie and Fazzy around with their respective families. So that was:
Ellie, with fiance AJ and baby Aubrey.
Fazzy with Shahier and Hani and Zay.
Corrie with her niece Mila, and her nephews Benjamin and Kahu.
That's a LOT of children.
I had prepared by buying toys and putting cartoons on the telly. There were activities and things EVERYWHERE.
The kids went NUTS with it. We played "Poo Head" and "Hugo" and "Mouse Trap" and "Gone Fishing".
The fishing game was a total hit. It cost just $20 but even the adults were lining up to play with it. Fazzy and me were very competitive and got to trash-talking each other and also ps btw I'm pretty sure she cheated. Huh.
It was SUCH a fun day. Everyone was happy and all the kids were so well behaved. So much so that Jasper even came out to say hello at one point, he's a goo' boy.
But today's favourite moment is also today's blip. Flash back with me to 1995 when my niece April (Soozle's sister's girl) was just 4. I was watching Wallace and Gromit with her on the telly and she kept telling me not to be scared, it wasn't really scary, she reassured me and she held my hand.
It is one of the very favourite moments of my whole life.
Today, Hani - who is five - watched "Finding Nemo" with me. She put her hand on my shoulder and told me that the "Ring of Fire" in the movie is just bubbles and not scary. And I flashed back in my head to Xmas 1995.
I'm really tired now, but the whole of today was totally worth it. If only for that one little moment alone.
S.
