Knife Sharpener

David's family is a Family of Many Talents. This is son Andrew, who came yesterday to help David build the arbor on the upper terrace, noticed that our knives were pathetically dull, and returned today with all his knife sharpening tools, and set about sharpening all our kitchen knives to a razor thin edge. He demonstrated this to me by holding up a piece of paper and slicing it to ribbons. Oddly enough, I had just been to the kitchen shop in search of some drinking glasses, and noticed sharpening stones costing up to $100. He brought along about three different kinds and used them all. Meanwhile,, his brother, Drake, was poring over my latest cookbook, Jerusalem by Yotam Ottolenghi. Maybe if I leave it around he'll come back and cook some fabulous Middle Eastern food....
