Officially

It was much too cold and we were much too short of time to walk to the Registry Office as we had done when E was born. We laughed together as we ran late for our appointment and E and I headed in, while Chris and A parked the car. Soon we were approving the official document, staring happily at our new daughter's name and paying £10 for a full birth certificate.

At the desk opposite, we saw and overheard a grieving family register a death- a bold reminder of the circle of life. Then, as we were leaving we spotted this tiny notice. Hard to imagine people politely sharing a newspaper when most people can access news 24/7 online, mobile, digital. How will A get her news fix in years to come?

As Cafe Fish is no longer Leith based, we had steak sandwiches and chips in Nobles to celebrate.
