Sally Mair - Loving life

Grandma's After School Club!

Friday today, so the National Galleries art quiz is at the bottom of this post. 8 for me today, how do you get on? I do enjoy doing this every week. I'm certainly absorbing lots of information about at as a result of it.

Thanks for your good wishes yesterday for our potential night club visit. We decided against it in the end and feel asleep on the couch watching Monty Python (see below) instead. Our vaccine passports have yet to be tested!

I popped round to see Ali and Josie this morning, all well and looking so happy. Josie has put on a whole pound since she was born just two weeks ago. She now weighs 6lb 13oz having been only 5lb 12 at birth, guess she's got the hang of that then! It's such a relief to parents when babies feed well. She sleeps well too so they're coping fine as they are properly rested.
We picked up the girls after school today for the first time in a while and brought them home. We were having eggy toast for lunch which Isobel said she didn't like then proceeded to eat four (baguette) slices of. Pudding was raspberries and blueberries and natural yogurt with a meringue, that wasn't received very enthusiastically either but oddly enough I couldn't find any left afterwards - what are they like!
They pulled out a whole lot of things to do after lunch, then, Eilidh spent over an hour making an activity book for her sister. Isobel made sure Eilidh used the right felt pens - not the blue packet though because those are grandma's special ones (I don't remember making that rule, but never mind).
I asked Isobel if she had anything in her school bag to show me, and to my surprise she said yes and rushed off to her bag. Having been in school for just over a month she had been given all her work to bring home to show her parents. She went through the papers with me very proudly, she's just loving school.
Isobel and I then made some pancakes (the Scotch variety). She said she would get things ready, so went and found the stool to stand on, got out her apron and even washed her hands.... she claimed they were clean but when i asked if she was sure she hadn't put her fingers in her mouth, up her nose or in her ears - she wasn't 100% sure so decided she'd better play safe and wash them.... much to our relief.
Their Dad arrived to pick them up just as the first batter hit the pan. She was most disgruntled and told him off for not giving her time to eat her pancakes before going home. Fortunately he agreed to stay for tea and pancakes too!
We had a quick dinner then settled down to play bridge with two other friends via Zoom. I wonder if we'll ever stay to feel relaxed again about going to our club. That involves playing as a group of four seated around a small table with opponents changing every 15 minutes. I do hope so.
We finished the evening watching the second half of Monty Python and the Holy Grail which we realised the other day that we'd never watched. It was made the year we were married, 1975. I have to say it wasn't my favourite. We're going to try Life of Brian tomorrow which we have seen before and enjoyed.
Keep safe everyone, Scottish numbers are definitely going down again, let's hope they stay that way.
