Lesmahagow.

Gave John this book for his birthday. An interesting read for us because of the links we have with Lesmahagow.

I was brought up in a nearby village.

I went to the Higher Grade there ( now High School) and was school captain , before going on to Larkhall Academy.

I attended church there and was a Sunday school teacher. Also married in that church by John’s father.

I started work there in The Royal Bank of Scotland pre Fred the Shred!!

While working there I met my great friend Cath , who worked in the local dentist’s surgery.

Then along came someone called J D who worked in the Bank of Scotland ……… and the rest is history!

Of course , none of that is in the book !
