Rotsidan
I was looking at previous blips from Rotsidan and it really is one of our "Go to" places, both for ourselves on a sunny or stormy day, and whenever we have visitors. Today it was just us.
The weather was so good we had to go somewhere and a plan quickly evolved. Brunch somewhere on the way, shopping for a little food on the way, take 'Arry the camper van so we could have a quick brew if required, and back via Sandö bridge, because we could weigh the camper van there.
(If you don't have a camper van then that last item may surprise you but camper vans, with all their fittings, are fairly heavy so staying under the 3,5 tonnes is not always easy. We thought we'd check ours so we know how many boxes of wine etc we can take back with us when we make our first trip south!)
It all worked beautifully and we had a great day out. As we walked the 500 metres from the car park to the sea the sun shone straight down the path, which was very wet, and provided the extra photo, inspired by the reflected light. The main blip was taken from the end of the walkway that allows access for prams, wheelchairs etc. Of course we walked out along the edge of the sea, watching the waves come roaring in. Sometimes we played a little, standing on the last dry bit of stone and watching the big waves hissing towards us. Here's 22 seconds of film. Jan thought I might get my feet wet, hence the quiet laugh!
It's a slightly sobering thought that those smooth expanses of stone are kept smooth and free of plants by the waves that sweep up in the really big storms! I'd like to be there in one of those storms...
Notice we are alone! One of the advantages of living nearby and being able to be here "out of season".
The last task of my day was to weigh 'Arry, and we were relieved to find that we were 280 kg below the max weight, though that is with an empty water tank. We can bring a few goodies home when we go south!
