Schizostylis ( Hesperantha coccinea )

Back to normal.  After our few days in Edinburgh it is back to our usual routine.  So I was spending the afternoon with Kanyl.   Our garden and indeed Kanyl's tend to be lacking colour. I was very pleased to see the flash of colour  beside the pond.

Schizostylis also known as River Lily or sometimes Crimson Flag Lily.  Is a welcome splash of colour at this time of year and later.  Native of South Africa.  It is semi evergreen.  As the scientific name suggests it is usually red but sometimes can be white or pink.
