Done

Student loan finally paid off in full. Had been checking my account each month for the last 6 months or so. I knew it was coming.

Called today to make sure they knew I was done and to my surprise they had already sent out a note to stop payments being taken and would refund the small overpayment in 4-5 days. This efficiency is not what I am used to from the SLC but I’ll gladly take it at this stage.

My ‘favourite’ Student Loan memory was when they tried to tell me I was making more money in Australia so needed to send more to them. After several attempts they finally understood that no, I was not in fact making any more money. The exchange rate had changed. They accepted I should continue to pay the same amount. Thankfully.
