Cyclops
This is the ringed greylag goose that I mentioned last week.
I think it is getting to know me as I couldn't see it around when I arrived, but while I was feeding the ringed coot, it put in an appearance asking for a share of grain.
It is tame enough to take seed from my hand but is obviously a wild bird, otherwise I don't think it would be ringed with a BTO metal band.
Both birds were a little taken aback by the strange posture being assumed by this blipping human and gave me odd looks.
Greylag goose, (Anser anser)
[EDIT 27/3/13]
After reporting the ring number last week, details just arrived this afternoon.
It was ringed as a nestling in the Lothians just 17km away on 14/6/2002. No intermediate sightings.
A bit disappointed - I thought it would have come from further afield.
Average age of a greylag goose is 8 years. Record is 18yrs 8 months and 2 days.
