It's Beginning to Feel a Lot Like....

..Autumn...

A nip in the air, pumpkins on doorsteps, a hint of orange in the trees, and a farmer's market of all things autumn...the harvest vegetables, plums, apples upon apples, home-baked goods, jams, jellies, pumpkins, sunflowers, chrysanthemums, apple cider, and of course, Indian corn... also known as flint corn and calico corn...the symbol of the harvest that we hang on our front doors or place on our table tops in the fall. The changing of the seasons is upon us....

I took Mary, my friend from Grand Manan who is visiting this week to the market to start our day;  she of course wore her burnt orange hand-knit sweater as her nod to autumn fashion.. I tried, but had nothing as appropriate as that to wear.  Then after filling my market bag, we picked up more autumn treats at the bakery, and headed down to the lake shore with cameras to look for photo-ops. I did get a few decent photos  - actually very few - but I thought the corn was most representative of the autumn mood I was in...so that's today's blip.

We spent the rest of the day sitting by the fire knitting and chatting about everything from humpback whales and quilt patterns to books we have read and loved... which is appropriate too I guess as tomorrow night is book club...
