Volleyball

A few days of family and volleyball - we had a great time!
Before the game, we went to see Krista and Dan's apartment, and it looks great! We spent some time with them and enjoyed seeing Bruce the Boston and the cats, Raisin and Mouse.
The main image was taken by Krista. She and I sat court side and we each took a few shots with the camera while the team was warming up. Her hands are steadier than mine, so hers were better. I took the extras.  :-)  I find it challenging to take photos in gyms, even when using the Sports setting.
Mixed volleyball results. The team beat the University of Alaska Fairbanks on Thursday night and broke the Alaskan team's 7 match winning streak. We won 25-19 in the 1st set, won a nail-biter of a 2nd set 31-29, lost the 3rd set 16-25, then won the 4th set 25-19 to take the match. A great team effort and thrilling to watch. It was awesome to see the team and everyone who was helping at the game wearing Every Child Matters t-shirts for Truth and Reconciliation Day, and we were wearing ours too. I was chuffed that the team's shirts were the same as mine.  :-)
On Saturday night, the team lost to the University of Alaska Anchorage in four sets. After coming out strong and taking the first set 25-18, the team lost the next two close sets 22-25 and 23-25, then fell apart and lost the 4th set 12-25 and the match. I know the players will be ready for the next time they meet this team!
Kalyn played well in both matches. It's always great to see her wearing number 17, which she has inherited from G!  That was his number in several sports that he played, and Kalyn has been wearing it for a few years now in different sports. :-))
After the game, we went to see the house that Kalyn's renting with two other students. It was great to have a chance to see where she lives now.
Extras:
As the players are being introduced at the beginning of the match, each of the starters throws a t-shirt into the stands. The first two extras are of Kalyn throwing a shirt and then getting hit in the face by her braid. We were sitting at the top of the bleachers, and she didn't quite get it to us either night, although she came close this night. A guy sitting a couple of seats away caught it.
3rd extra: the team cheer as the game was about to begin
4th extra: Kalyn approaching the net for a set
5th extra: Kalyn attempting a spike after a low set and managing to get the ball over the net
6th extra: Kalyn hitting through the block
