A full house

Here is a fact I would never have discovered if I had not had to Google some 18th century inventions for today mono Monday challenge.

The sandwich was invented by John Montagu, better known as Lord Sandwich, in 1762 a confirmed gambler who wouldn’t leave the poker table to eat and ordered his cook to bring him some food.
 
She served him a sandwich. So popular did this bread and meat combination become that  he ate it constantly and it became known as a sandwich.
