Season of Mellow Fruitfulness...

...and Roast Turkey with Stuffing and Pumpkin Pie.

I have been home from the cottage for three days now and I finally got out of the house and to the grocery store...where, to my wondering eyes, did appear pumpkins and gourds piled high among the chrysanthemums! Hmmm...

I am not ready for a Hallowe'en pumpkin yet, and even if I was, my resident squirrels would have it all chewed up by October 31! But the gourds were of interest..They would go perfectly with the quilt I hung up yesterday..and they do! So, my living room is now fully  autumnified.... and ready for the Thanksgiving holiday.

My long time best friend is coming from the Maritimes this week to stay for a visit.. and will be here over Thanksgiving. She is an avid reader, knitter and an expert quilter, ( hence changing the quilt to fit the season...I hope she will be impressed with it and its matching gourds...) so we have lots in common; entertaining her will not be an issue... but there is one challenge...

Thanksgiving dinner!  I can't even remember when I last cooked a turkey...I am usually away at this time of year... in a place where they do not celebrate Thanksgiving. I have forgotten how, but thought I should try.

At the grocery store, I checked out the turkeys...seems they don't make turkeys small enough for two people?...so I am hoping there is such a thing as take-out turkey dinners? Google will know...The turkey is the stumbling block...along with the dressing and the gravy...The pumpkin pie I can handle - they sell those at Farm Boy!

I will start phoning around tomorrow for turkey dinner options...because what is autumn and Thanksgiving without a turkey dinner?
