Small Tortoiseshell

A warm day for the Sunday ride, but fresher than it has been. Unlike Saturday, the breeze was a cooling one rather than a very warm one offering no relief. A pleasant 81km in an anti-clockwise direction.  Ride can be seen at Relive here.

A nice walk in the afternoon, but cloudy. Not having seen many butterflies this year, I was surprised to see this Small Tortoiseshell butterfly on the thistle flowers. My partner spotted a few more, but they flew away before they could be photographed.
