This and That
Having never set foot inside the gym for the whole of September, I felt it my duty to try and do better now that October has blown in. I went early to have the place more or less to myself which is how I like it. There are cleaning stations dotted about and paper towel dispensers to allow for the wiping down of apparatus. In addition, masks have to be worn walking around. It does feel quite safe from Covid infection.
The Sunday coffee meeting saw the usual suspects. Although for 5 minutes at the start I thought I was going to be Billy No Mates.
Porty daughter arrived after lunch to look at my draughty windows and decide what to do with them. She has offered to try and seal the gaps where the ropes for the sash and case frames come through the void between the outer house wall and the inner wall.
Later we had a very fast perambulation to suss out the nearest bus stops for buses to Ingliston where I get my flu jab ( and hopefully a booster Covid jab) on Thursday.
I met a friend this morning who lives nearby who had been offered a flu jab at places as far apart as Haddington, Musselburgh, Gorebridge and East Calder.
Where is the rationale behind this forced exit for the citizens of the City to places of which some of them have never heard.
Munroist says I should stop moaning and just be thankful I’m getting a jab at all and don’t live in Brazil. However the fact remains I don’t live in Brazil and surely I can expect better. What’s wrong with the flu jab for younger people being done routinely at the pharmacist? Obviously the booster Pfizer jab has to be done in a centre because of cold storage, but why so far away?
I rest my case and offer these fungi as my blip. I have enjoyed eating their cousins, the lovely bell mushrooms in the shops at the moment
