Don’t mess with raccoons

Every time I let Laney outside off leash, she goes right to the storm drain at the end of our driveway and tries to get in after something. Every time I look in there too and never see anything.
Last night when I let her out we both saw two enormous raccoons scurrying toward the drain. Laney was off like a shot and tried to dive in after them. They grabbed her front paw and wouldn’t let her go. I literally had to pull her out of their grasp.
Her paw was bleeding but she could still bear weight on it and it didn’t swell so I waited to take her to the vet this morning. Turns out she has a deep gash in one of her toes, so now she is on antibiotics and pain killers .
Never mind the pain my pocket book is feeling!
