Cider Country?

I took this in the pouring rain just before Mass this evening – 6 pm Saturday Mass counts as a Sunday devotion . . .

I've just finished Laurie Lee's Cider with Rosie, in which the final pages are of the lost community in the deep countryside.  This is not the Slad valley of Lee's childhood, but it's a small road that could be taken as unpaved going nowhere from a small town in Dorset.  The countryside is lusciously green because it's almost continuously drenched with rain (not quite, but it feels like it today) and my late father-in-law was born and grew up in this lovely, once-lost, countryside.

It's a place of boutiques, bistros, pricey pubs and second homes now, but it remains delightful.
