In the burn
….where it was possible to walk as it is so low there were fingerling trout in all the pools. Some of the pools are 2 metres deep. The sun glittered on the water, which was golden in places and ultramarine in others. A lovely autumn day. The cliff to the left is where the Sand Martin’s nest. All have departed now, but I noticed some Swallows and House Martin’s still around. A large skein of geese flew in and I was delighted to hear the stags roaring. The rut has begun!
