Nicky and her Nikon

When will the rain stop?

What a wet day! It started raining this morning and has not stopped all day. I did not even go on a walk with Xena this morning, Gavin took her instead. I had just finished washing and drying my hair and did not feel like getting all wet again.

The rest of the day was spent indoors pottering about. Gavin had lots of personal admin to do (including tax stuff), I sorted all the magazines and filed the walks from my pile of Country Walking magazine, an entire file of walks we like like to do one day!

We popped into the village for lunch at a favourite café where we bumped into a friend so we had a catch up - she was taking her 90+ year old mother out to lunch and I could not believe how good she is for her age. We also met another friend who was having lunch there - haha, seems like it is the place to meet!

It rained so heavily all afternoon that Xena would not go outside, I had to take her out for a wee with an umbrella over her - yes she is spoilt! Now the A3 near us is flooded so there are huge traffic problems. The garages are still having very long queues of cars trying to get fuel, how the government can say that the problem is easing is ridiculous, they clearly never bothered to come to Surrey!

Tomorrow Gavin is running the London Marathon. It is the 41st London Marathon (it started in 1981) and it is also Gavin's 41st marathon, which is why he is running it - after retiring from marathon running after his 40th marathon a few years ago. Hopefully he will take it easy, he achieved his best marathon time of 3hrs 13 minutes running the London marathon 6 years ago so he has nothing to prove tomorrow. He has just taken his second lateral flow test as is required for the marathon, and although he still has a cold it is mild so fingers crossed all goes well tomorrow. Thankfully no rain is forecast for tomorrow.

Here is Xena looking out the window wondering when the rain will stop so she can go outside.
