Chin chin!
Reluctantly popped out to Leclerc in Montmorillon this afternoon. We thought that we might pick up a bottle of Prosecco to make an aperitif to follow our Italian theme tonight - we already have the Limoncello. Also I needed new bulbs for the cooker hood in order to see what I am doing tonight
Glad we went because I had much fun. Fun? At the supermarket?
Well, their Wine Fair is on and I so enjoyed gawping at the goodies. It is a constant source of amazement that one can simply pop along to the local supermarket and find wines of such quality. As Mr L pointed out, it's not even under lock and key! (Startled recently to find the Gordon's locked up in a glass case at Consum in Alcossebre)
I also delighted in the gift packs comprising two bottles of wine with an additional item... Boules.... Poker sets... BBQ aprons...
Additionally, there seems to be a bit of a Duck fair on and the canned Cassoulet and Confit were piled high.
All this on top of the proud banner outside, which declared a Pork Fair with pork at just €2,10 a kilo. That's the price for either a whole pig, including the head, or a half pig with no head. Hard to decide on that one :-)
Shopping isn't like this in the UK!
Took many photos but didn't get told off. Hard to choose which to share...
Oh, and despite the abundance of very pricy wine on offer, we came home with the Prosecco (2, as it was 30% off) and a 1.5 litre, raffia wrapped, bottle of very cheap Chianti (it seemed fitting for the occasion). Well, I was in need of a candle holder. Very Sixties Chic, eh?
