Nostalgia!

At 8.30am today we were waiting outside Betty's in Ilkley, waiting for it to open at 9am, as we had decided to treat ourselves to breakfast there.There were already four other people  in front of us and twenty behind, by the time the doors were opened. What is it about the Brits - we love a queue! Anyway, the food and service were excellent as always, and  worth the wait. I had hoped to take  a photo of the outside but it is covered in scaffolding at present. 
After a brief stroll around elegant Ilkley we drove off to Oxenhope station, at one end of the Keighley and  Worth Valley (heritage) Railway, to catch a train to Haworth. In Haworth  we discovered  there was a one day 1940's event in  full swing. Normally there is a 1940's weekend in May, but that had been cancelled this year.However, they had managed to organise this event, at least. Here is just a small representative group of participants who had dressed up for the occasion.  We stopped off for  a drink in the Apothecary Tearoom,  apparently being run for the day by Rene and  Yvette from " 'Allo, 'Allo" !
 
(We decided against visiting the Bronte museum and  the Parsonage as we have been there before, and the 1940's revival had already provided plenty of entertainment.)

So, then we rejoined  the (diesel hauled) train to Keighley,  and thence  to Oxenhope, via Oakworth station, the  setting for the classic 1970s "The Railway Children" film, before heading  off to Matlock where we are staying the night at Slayleigh B & B.
