The rare Roan Antelope

Mopani camp was the next stop for us, which meant a long drive south via Shingwedzi. What a great route for unusual sightings.

The Roan Antelope were victims of an anthrax outbreak in 2012 so to see one these days is a rare event. Beside the Roan was a Mum and baby Tsessebe, that stood still as if waiting for the photos to be taken.

Next came the Ground Hornbill that is also endangered, and we got to see five of them.

Elies splashing in muddy water at one waterhole and a huge herd ofElies digging for their own drink on a dry river bed, and gathering for some fun in a muddy puddle.

There are only two small units that overlook the dam at Mopani, and we were staying in one of them. The extras show the various beasties referred to, as well as our view of the sunset as we enjoyed sundowners before supper.
