Old Fayetteville

The south end of town. I like the older part of town which unfortunately seems to be in the process of gentrification. This particular area remains for the time being. Next to this iconic gas station is a biker bar. This area used to be for the working class along with artists, teachers, and lower to middle income types. Now, even run down properties are selling for ridiculously high prices just for the land. The houses are usually torn down and replaced with modern row type houses, and town-homes. This area is close to the downtown square which makes it a hot spot for developers to swoop in and seduce the older and often minority people to sell their homes. The question is "where do they go?" The city is becoming too high dollar for normal people to live. Not everyone can make $300,000 a year to afford one of these newer modern homes in the city. There are bumper stickers on cars saying, "Keep Fayetteville Funky". I agree.
