El Capitan II

This is as far as the chainsaw would get me. The tree is about 100ft in length. There are still 40 feet of trunk to cut up. I’m beginning to think the only safe poplar is a pollarded one that keeps the height in check.

In other news I was looking at the table that took flight. There was a careful bird’s nest built in a nook at the top of one of the legs - now sorely exposed. Moss, festers and animal hair. I wonder if it dates from the time the table was in the barn garden when are then-tenant had dogs. It’s an extra.
