Coming home

Woke to wind and rain in Anstruther this morning, but it soon cleared and we set off home via Cupar and Huntingtower. We stopped at the latter for a coffee in a well-known garden centre chain - not impressed. Grumpy? Never!

While on the subject of not being impressed, last night we bought fish and chips from the Anstruther Fish Bar, after several recommendations. They say on their website 'Welcome to the home of the best fish and chips in Britain'. They've won countless awards and in 2008/9 were judged the best in Britain, winners out of 12,000 entries! I was expecting something wonderful, but I'm sorry to say that our fish supper was the worst I can remember eating! The batter was so thick that it was barely possible to taste the haddock, and the chips were limp and lifeless. Mrs M tried to persuade me otherwise, but some of hers went into the bin along with mine!

Popped along to Killin to have a look at the wonderful Falls of Dochart. Very full and peaty today, though the sky was somewhat dull. I walked out on to the bridge to get some pictures just as six other people came along, all snapping with mobile phones and shouting and screaming and jumping up and down as they tried to take selfies of each other and the whole group. I slunk away and came back when they'd gone! So that's my Blip today - the Falls, not the people!

We had a picnic in the car further on along Glen Dochart and drove home through some very heavy rain, arriving mid-afternoon. We enjoyed our short break - lovely to see a different part of the country. Now I have a lot of photographs to sort through!
