Graceland

Checked out of our Memphis hotel this morning and drove out to Graceland and boy was that place packed with Elvis, Elvis, and more Elvis. It was fantastic. We got to tour his home, see the grounds, his clothes, his cars, his jets complete with gold tinted sinks, dining rooms and bedrooms, and way way more. I learned many things, including:

1) Elvis had a twin brother who was stillborn.
2) When he performed in Vegas, he earned $300,000 for a two week gig.
3) Each of the outfits pictured above cost around $2,000 to make.

I loved every minute of being at Graceland and I can't help but imagine what Elvis would have been like/what would have happened with his career if he hasn't died at 42. I'm starting to believe the theory that Elvis really isn't dead, just staying out of the spotlight. Maybe he's hanging out with Abe Lincoln (Abe Lincoln: Vampire Hunter anyone?) and Heath Ledger. Hey a girl can dream.

After spending hours touring and shopping in Graceland, we drove three hours to our second stop of the roadtrip: Nashville. We met up with Heidi and went out to eat at Jimmy Buffet's Magaritaville. Our food and drinks were delish and we heard some excellent live music. Afterwards we walked down Broadway a little bit, bought some candy and them headed back to the hotel and now I'm pooped.
