La Parenthese Inattendue
La Parenthese Inttendue is the name of a French show I have become hooked on. As only the French can do, this two-hour show makes you laugh, smile, want to sing a song, have cheese and wine, be touched by people's experiences, whilst hang out with old friends and have some laughs, all at the same time.
A presenter (Frederic Lopez) invites three celebrities to a country house for 24 hours. Often a writer, actor and singer, they share their memories, their company, and each other's recipes for what looks like a fantastic dinner. How come all French people seem to know how to cook?
Furthermore, only the French can make what could potentially be a tacky reality show into something tasteful. It's like every French kid was taught how to hold a conversation, to know the basics of philosophy yet be down to earth and have a good laugh. I'm perhaps biased, but after many years, I think my claims are pretty well founded.
What makes this Monday special is that the local Apple store had a magic cable which, when hooked to my Mac Air, 'Unotelly.com' and my British TV, creates a rollicking raft of fun!
Tonight's show was no different to the others in the series: a feeling of contentment, like you've spent time with a good friend.
Bon soirée á tous
