Sally Mair - Loving life

By Sallymair

Going, going.....

The Sick Kids hospital, now safely in its new home on the outskirts of Edinburgh, is disappearing fast. It looks like they are taking down the varied additions to the main building and leaving the original 19th century sandstone. I guess they'll be converting the old building to flats as they did with the old Royal Infirmary on the other side of the Meadows.
I do hope that the Mortuary Chapel is being preserved. It's not seen by many people but it was decorated by Phoebe Anna Traquair who wanted to create a special place for parents to say goodbye to their children rather than the stark  room which had been used up until then. I visited during a doors open day 15 - 20 years ago.

I went with Ali when she drove to join her NCT group this afternoon, for the first time since all of their babies have arrived. She thought it best to have the option of another driver in case there were problems. There weren't, all went well. I'm so impressed with the way she has taken to parenting. Josie is a week old today.
Off for my first face to face Cursilo meeting this evening too, I'll be wearing my mask!
Keep safe everyone, Scotland's numbers are coming down well, we are no longer amongst the highest hotspots of Europe according to the BBC. Mind you I found it strange to see individual Scottish health boards compared with entire countries. Still, better now.
