So many questions

One more from the antiques trip. But what was art hose? Was it covered in pictures, possibly art deco? Did the silk moths who produced the silk have artistic talent of their own, delivering colours other than white, possibly tartan? Did wearing them give a lady her own artistic inspiration (and hopefully talent)? Or was this just a way of doubling the price of posh stockings? Will we ever know? Indeed, do we care?
