Dinner in France

I made tomates farcies (stuffed tomatoes) for the first time tonight, putting my own spin on the traditional French dish. We don't make French food very often chez nous, but Sophie made this when we were at her house for dinner a few weeks ago and I thought I'd give it a try. It's very easy and simple to make; I made it just from memory watching Sophie make it one night. I used ground beef, the insides of the tomatoes, a chopped onion, a couple of cloves of garlic, cumin, peperoncini flakes, cayenne pepper, salt, and basmati rice as the stuffing. Then I baked the stuffed tomatoes and served them over basmati rice. So simple to make and delicious; French comfort food. Of course for apèro we had bread and cheese and cocktails. My drink is white wine, crème de cassis, and eau pétillante (seltzer water, not mineral water!).

Voila, nothing new to report. Wishing for some sunshine so I can take some decent photographs. I downloaded a free photo collage program for Macs called "Picture Collage Maker Lite," which I don't think I'll use again... However, it sufficed for tonight since I was desperate for a Blip and had several sub-par photos to choose from.
