A bit more normal
BACK BLIP
Only photo of the day, bad but better than nothing
There is traditionally four village quiz nights per year. The last one we had was the Christmas one in December 2019. Tonight was the return of Quiz Night, fewer tables, fewer people but still has much fun.
We usually have two teams, grown up and the kids. The grown ups have never won but the kids have collected many wooden spoons for last place. Us grown ups came second, the kids failed dismally, beaten by four other teams for last place.
One of our traditions is to choose a different team name every time. This time we called ourselves "Nice to see you". I think this was initially taken as a celebration of the return of the quiz. Unfortunately it was actually only half a well known catch phrase, the second half (to see you nice) being yelled out when our scores were requested. This was repeated at the end of each round with a different one of Bruce Forsyth's phrases (give us a twirl Mike, You don't get anything for a pair in this game, what do points make, what's on the conveyer belt tonight ,etc ) This caused some confusion, some amusement and probably some annoyance but hey, its traditional so its OK.
The kids did not choose participation with their team name, choosing instead to give the quizmaster a bit of a tongue twister with "Chris Witty's Itty Bitty Titty Committee" (Chris is England's Chief Medical Officer and has been on TV virtually every night since Covid started)
An extremely good night ( did I mention the several empty bottles of red and white wine we took home afterwards) a throwback to pre-covid days and hope for the future. The next one will be early December, in fancy dress. A possible Blip?
