He's Here!

FBC Pflugerville was buzzing with excitement this morning.  After many months of praying and a lot of hard work by our pastor search team and many others, the man that God had prepared to be our new senior pastor came with his wife and daughter to begin to lead our church.  Southern Baptists don't "hire" a pastor, we "call" them and if they come to serve with us, they sign a covenant  with us as a church body.  That 's what happened this morning at the end of our service.  We started by lifting our hearts and voices in worship and praise, then the choir and orchestra (joined softly by Dana and me from the pew---I'm not ready for the stairs up to the choir loft yet} gave a stirring rendition of "Is He Worthy?".  Pastor Wes will preach next Sunday, so after the choir finished, the sermon for this special service was preached by a man I have heard of all my life, Dr. Jimmy Draper.  He has quite a legacy in Southern Baptist circles and he just "happens " to be our new pastor's grandfather!  It was a great message about the relationship of the pastor to the congregation and how we can support him and each other as he shepherds us  I'm looking forward to next Sunday.  Hope to see you there!
