The Cat of Reconciliation
My Dear Princess and Dear Friends,
I am aware that my entry from this time last week was all loved-up and full of sunshine and stars and rainbows. I do apologise for sickening you all.
It was therefore somewhat ironic that, this week, Caro and I managed to have one of our biggest fights in about 10 years.
I say "fight". Actually it was just me getting ultra-pissy and annoyed with Caro and her talking me down. Here's the thing which I suspect many of you know - I am the one in our relationship who is in touch with his feelings and wants to talk about things and have things be clear and straightforward.
Caro is soooooo not. It makes her embarrassed and awkward to talk about feelings.
I am fully aware this is a complete gender-flip of most couples, but that's how sophisticated we are.
I should emphasise that I don't want to talk all the time, god that would just be annoying. I'm talking about once in an effing blue moon here. But some things are really important or misunderstandings ensue. And today they ensued big time; hence pissy and annoyed.
The good news is that Caro, bless her heart, took the time to tell me some things that I needed to hear from her. And so, by mid-afternoon I was back to being loved-up and sickening again.
And then Dr. Girlfriend miaowed at the window, which she has never done before. And came in the window, which she has never done before. And then she curled up across both Caro and myself, which she has never done before.
She was like The Cat of Reconciliation, and I ended the afternoon very happy. In fact, if anything, happier than before.
Apologies. I shall try to hold it in on blip. One doesn't want to become saccharine.
S.
