An ordinary life....

A busy day and a grand re-union...

Backblipped 24.09.21

Alan had a bit of a lie in after all the fun yesterday.  Andrew was up with the larks ready to start all over again.  No lying in when there is fun to be had!

They headed back to Blackpool after lunch to visit the model village and loads of other places (it's taken me so long to blip our holiday I've forgotten most of the details of where they went and what they did!)

We stayed at the cottage and prepared lunch for my cousin (well my mum's cousin) Marilyn and her husband Dennis, who were joining us.

Marilyn and Dennis live in a little village only 15 mins from our cottage so I couldn't come all this way and not get in touch.  We've not seen each other since they came to our wedding 32 years ago!  The only contact we've had is the annual Christmas card, so I was really looking forward to seeing them both.  They featured heavily in my childhood as when we holidayed at my (Great```) Uncle Alex's (Marilyn's dad) we always stayed with Marylin and Dennis for a few days.  My gran was particularly close to Marilyn and I know she'd be very happy that we were having this get together.

They arrived just after 12.30.  D made sure Lola had her lead on as both of them are quite nervous of dogs.  Dennis was badly bitten by a dog as a child so understandable.  The weather was lovely so we were able to eat outside overlooking the duck pond.

They both look amazing for their age (both in their 70s)  We had so much to catch up on and of course great memories to share.  Dennis was always a real character and great fun and he hasn't changed a bit.  Very similar sense of humour to David so it wasn't long till we were all in fits of laughter at the silliest of things.

They've both been really careful re covid and this was the first socialising they'd done since restrictions relaxed.  They don't have any children and as Dennis pointed out, their circle of friends is getting smaller, so with only each other to really think about they've been happy to avoid socialising in order to stay safe.

We chatted and chatted and before we knew it three hours had gone by.  Still with lots to say, Marylin invited us to theirs for lunch on Thursday so looking forward to that.  She also brought along photocopies of some photos of my mum, gran and me at hers when I was about seven.  What a lovely blast from the past.

Once they left we cleared up and just chilled for the rest of the day.

The rest of the gang got back around 7pm and went to the Bistro for dinner.

A lovely day all round :-))
