Raggedy Ann
Or maybe Raggedy Andy, I couldn't tell, but this Variegated Fritillary is showing some wear and tear as Autumn officially begins. I know how he/she feels. I wandered out to the garden and followed this butterfly around, first to the asters, then to the last of the white phlox and finally a lone pink phlox. I finally was able to get a photo of its speckled eye on the pink phlox. The garden is nearing the end as well. Cut back begins next week but I will leave everything that still has something to offer the bees and butterflies. There is still time.
