Saint Kentigern

This is Crossthwaite Church just outside Keswick. It is dedicated to St. Kentigern who was driven out of Scotland by a pagan prince.
The churchyard includes the graves of Robert Southey, author of Goldilocks and The Three Bears (see WendsWanders blip from earlier in the week) and Poet Laureate from 1813-1843; and Hardwicke Drummond Rawnsley, who was one of the founders of the National Trust and vicar at this church from 1883 to 1917. He was given the honorary position of Chaplain to the King in 1912.
The extra taken en route to the church was flood defence work being carried out on the river Greta. It was fascinating watching the heavy machinery at work.
