Caterpillar

This caterpillar lying languorously in our golden oreganum patch, is, I believe, the larva of a knot grass moth, Acronicta rumicis. 
Wikipedia tells me is is found more commonly in the Palearctic region and is under threat in the UK.
(I hope it did knot have to fly all this way).
