I've walked past St Mary's church in South Woodford so many times but not noticed this little plaque celebrating the nearby copper beech as one of London's great trees.

I bought a couple of books at the Photography show on Sunday, one of which sets a number of assignments. One of these requires you to take a series of photos that capture the essence of your neighbourhood. So I was giving it a try and it certainly got me looking. Including this one.

An excellent talk at the photo society this evening by a professional who talked about the transition for his film photography through to the current digital era. Fascinating stuff.
