Large Bristle Fly
These brutes are bigger than a blowfly. They are very bristly.
The song has ended…
Yesterday I found the bellbird lying dead in the grass. For two years he’s been a regular visitor to my garden, attracted by the nectar from my flowers and the sugar water I put out for the waxeyes. He sang for his supper in glorious song. He was my favourite bird and he gave me much joy. I buried him in a big earthenware pot with a cabbage tree seedling.
See three photos of him in extra shot. I wish I could include a recording of him singing.
