From Russia with……..

Today my dad received a medal from the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in London.

By the time dad was 16 years old, he had left school, attended the Merchant Navy Training School on the Mersey,  joined a ship….part of the Russian Convoys…and headed for Murmansk in Arctic Russia.

The medal marks the 75th Anniversary of the Victory of the Great Patriotic War …known to us as World War II….

The Russian Federation decided to give the medal to those members of the Allied Forces, who helped the war effort
in Russia. Dad is now 94 years old.

My brother, living in Hampshire, received the medal from the Embassy in London….and posted it out to Spain, where we live.
