Owl butterfly

I was supposed to go to visit my sister in Shrewsbury today ( had it in my diary since the last meet up) but when I texted her yesterday to confirm , she’d made other plans. How dare she!!

She and her partner were off to Chester Zoo, 2.5 h away from me. She invited me to go, and as I had a clear day in my diary obviously, I decided to go. I had last visited 20 years ago when we lived in Cheshire. It was a long drive there and back but worth it.

We had a lovely day, and wandered round in the sun catching up. I’m very conflicted about zoos- I hate to see animals in captivity but understand their role in conservation.
This owl butterfly was the closest I got to anything :)
