At home: Sams spring chick.. (snowy!)
Meet 'Snowy' the spring chick! Since the Arctic weather arrived at the weekend, we have had an explosion of chicks in the incubator. The hatchlings have nothing to do with the weather outside, although I fear for any spring baby who is born into these elements. Sam transferred these to a heat lamp nursery.
We do have some hatchlings under a broody hen too. She is confined to the box and not the run, although her chicks have taken to running under her body like a penguin mother might do with its own chicks.
Sam is chuffed to pieces with his chicks. He is already working out his profit for future chicken sales, less chick crumb and the potential that he may have hatched all worthless cockerels to hens!...I hope not! x
